Team/Draft Analysis (with predictions) by

Having never done anything like this before, well at least for a football
league, I thought I should put my hand up and give it a try. My name is Nathan
Lee and I own the Gold Coast Chargers. I have been playing fantasy football off
and on for five years, but have been more active the last three years. In my
analysis, it wont be too in depth. I will mainly focus on bye weeks, current
injuries or perceived weaknesses. As it is only pre-season its too early too
judge the studs and duds.

My system will be simple, three lights:

Red light - Look out, dangerous week for this team.
Yellow light - Proceed with caution, risky week ahead.
Green light - You're on easy street, sit back and relax.

The only weeks I will be looking at are the bye weeks.

Here we go…

         Anoka Tornados
         Brandon Prince
 QB Bledsoe, Drew BUF 3
 QB Bulger, Marc STL 8
 RB Dillon, Corey NEP 3
 RB Green, William CLE 8
 RB James, Edgerrin IND 6
 RB Jones, Kevin DET 4
 WR Campbell, Kelly MIN 4
 WR Chambers, Chris MIA 10
 WR Gage, Justin CHI 5
 WR Lelie, Ashley DEN 10
 WR Ward, Hines PIT 7
 TE Clark, Desmond CHI 5
 TE Jones, Freddie ARI 6
 K Stover, Matt BAL 6
 K Vanderjagt, Mike IND 6
 DT Buffalo BUF 3
 DT St. Louis STL 8
 DT Washington WAS 7

The Tornadoes implemented a very interesting strategy on draft day, three
defenses. This will help gain maximum points from one of them each week, but
cost the Tornadoes at RB and WR. Dillon and James make a great RB combo, but
after Chambers and Ward, the receiving unit has a few question marks. One
wonders if Bledsoe can single-handedly carry this team in Week 8. Week 10 is
also a danger, however both 8 and 10 are during the two week stage of the game.
Week 6 could spell the end for the Tornados…

      Gold Coast Chargers
           Nathan Lee
 QB Brunell, Mark WAS 7
 QB Maddox, Tommy PIT 7
 QB McNabb, Donovan PHI 5
 RB Jones, Julius DAL 4

 WR Bruce, Isaac STL 8
 WR Harrison, Marvin IND 6
 WR McCareins, Justin NYJ 3
 WR Wade, Bobby CHI 5
 TE Crumpler, Alge ATL 9

 K Mare, Olindo MIA 10
 DT Dallas DAL 4

I learned a lot from this draft, so I can be harsh on myself. Depth at RB is
a serious concern, with Julius Jones acting as a #3 and two players having a
week 4 bye. A solid three WRs are offset by a shaky bottom two. Big risk comes
at week 4 with only one defense having a bye that week and only two RBs to rely
upon that week, albeit the starters. Problems may also arise with both back-up
QBs missing week 7, but McNabb should do the job there…

         Megalomaniacs

 WR Givens, David NEP 3
 WR Horn, Joe NOS 8
 WR Johnson, Chad CIN 5
 WR Rogers, Charles DET 4
 TE Kinney, Erron TEN 9
 TE Winslow, Kellen CLE 8
 K Longwell, Ryan GBP 9
 DT Minnesota MIN 4
 DT Philadelphia PHI 5

This team rolled the dice on the Denver backs. Good news is Bell is now #2 on
the depth chart. Bad news is it happened after Anderson went down for the
season. Meglomaniacs drafted six RBs luckily and the remaining five will be
needed, hopefully Bennett and Holmes stay healthy. The extra RB came at the
expense of a 2nd kicker. The team has one of the strongest WR units in the
league, all five have different byes as well. Needs both Johnson and Harrington
to have great seasons to survive past week 3...

 K Wilkins, Jeff STL 8
 DT Denver DEN 10
 DT Green Bay GBP 9

The Mayhem are a very good looking team, two great RBs, and MacGahee as
insurance. Looking at the WRs, once again, there isn’t a lot to be worried
about, and the QBs are more then adequate. Mayhem's only concern is in week 8
when Holt and Wilkins are both missing. This team could last a while…

         Reservoir Dogs
          Scott Goddard
 QB Garcia, Jeff CLE 8
 QB Green, Trent KCC 5

 DT Indianapolis IND 6
 DT Miami MIA 10

The Dogs took a very safe route with two each at TE, K, Def and QB and five
each at the money making positions. Week 10 jumps out as the main danger week
here with LT, Wheatley, Gates and the ‘Phins all resting, but a strong showing
in week 9 should balance them there. A great group of WRs and a sound drafting
strategy should carry this team far…

        Robos Tormentors
           Robo Watson
 QB Culpepper, Daunte MIN 4
 QB Gannon, Rich OAK 10

 DT New England NEP 3

Tormentors are one of the deepest teams at RB with Hollings and Smith at the
bottom, however Emmitt finally has ‘some’ competition for his job. WRs suffered
slightly to afford the RB unit, but QBs are above average with Gannon an
excellent back-up. Griffin keeping his job, Garners health and T.J. sharing
carries are all big issues for the Tormentors…

First thing you notice about the Rebels are the three young bucks at QB.
Hopefully one can carry this team on a weekly basis, doesn’t matter which one
it is. Rebels opted for a one kicker strategy, but is in a dangerous bye week,
shared by both the #1 WR and possibly the teams best option at QB. Any team
drafting Faulk also has to have concerns about how long he will last. Jackson
may have made a great 3rd RB for the Rebels…

Once again a team with a great unit at WR and although the Hellboys have only
one kicker, have managed that bye week well, but still a risk anytime you don’t
have a position covered one week. If the hype is true, this team has three
strong RBs, and Jackson is still leading the votes for ‘Most likely to be
traded to the Dolphins’. However, three RBs with week 8 byes and three WRs with
week 5 byes could sting…

Interesting team. Shock N Awe has S. Davis as an injury risk, but takes S.
Jackson as a back-up. If Faulk goes down and Davis stays healthy look out. If
the opposite occurs, this team will struggle! Boldin should be back after the
week 6 bye. Problem is, will Shock N Awe still be alive to utilize his
services? Burleson and Calico make up for the decision to draft both Boldin and
McCardell…

This team is extremely light at RB, especially with Scobey being pushed down
the epth chart in Arizona and a trade threatening to do the same for Minor, who
is a borderline starter as it is. Vicks health is key to The Lynch Mob's
success, especially with Carr and Grossman as the back-ups. Week 4 is a make or
break week with two of the five WRs missing, the other three will need to step
up…

Sound drafting strategy, combined with no conceived weaknesses make The
Terminators a very dangerous team. Only concerns are at RBs 4 and 5, and who
doesn’t have concerns there? This team needs the reports about Portis in
Washington to be proven wrong and a bit off luck in week 6, but for now, The
Terminators are the pick to win…

The Pride took only one TE. Sure its not a great position, but to take a
questionable starter will not only hurt a lot one week, but a little each week.
The Pride have arguably the best QB combo in the league, and aren’t too shabby
at WR either. Hambrick bolting to ‘Zona can only help this team. If they
survive beyond week 5, the Pride could be a threat, gaining in strength as the
weeks go by…

This is the part I wasn’t looking forward to doing, but here is a week by
week prediction of the order of elimination. Weeks 1 and 2 are the hardest to
call:

Week 1 - Megalomaniacs
Week 2 - The Lynch Mob
Week 3 - Michigan Mayhem
Week 4 - Robos Tormentors
Week 5 - San Antonio Hellboys
Week 6 - Anoka Tornados
Week 8 - Gold Coast Chargers
Week 10 - Reservoir Dogs
Week 12 - Wahnee Pride
Week 14 - Shock N Awe
Week 16 - Runnin Rebels

Winner - The Terminators

Thanks to Nathan for stepping up and doing an outstanding job on the analysis!
Two years in a row that The Terminators have been picked to outlast everyone.
Dave McDougal and The Terminators didn't survive past week 3 last year. Can
Mike (Bear) Antholtz with the same team name do any better? Nathan has the
2002 and 2003 Survivor Champ, Michigan Mayhem, getting the boot week 3. hmmm
Good luck everyone!
